Patriot Voices Shine
The Patriot Voices sang for Milford's Food Distribution. They got two standing ovations as well as many yelling "one more song"! We were very proud of their performance but most of all the fact that they stayed around and helped with the distribution. Everyone was so impressed with their talent, willingness to help and their amazing enthusiasm. They represented the body of Christ and CCA very well. Even the parents got involved!
Anna Ridgeway accepted to FSLA
Anna Ridgeway was accepted to the Federal Service Language Academy to study Chinese in an intensive summer program. The Federal Service Language Academy (FSLA) for high school students held each summer at the University of North Georgia is expanding this year to include Portuguese and both beginning and advanced study in Arabic, Chinese, Russian, German, French and Korean. This summer marks the third year of the program, which started in 2010 offering three languages to fewer than 100 high school students. The program draws students from across the state and around the country and is expected to top 150 students this year. The unique program, which combines fitness, federal service advisement and language immersion, has received acclaim and support from organizations across the country.
Duct-tape Fundraiser for Unified Campus Fund
We had a wonderful response to the duct-tape fundraiser. Over 680 strips and 9 rolls of tape were purchased (that's alot of tape). Students were allowed to use their duct tape to "stick it to" Principal Sherry Campbell. After securing Mrs. Campbell to the wall, the stools were pulled away and she was actually held on the wall (briefly) by the duct-tape. Approximately $1,700 was raised for the fund to purchase the Sun Valley Beach property for a future unified campus.
