As a rule, people don't like change. We grow secure
as we learn to live and cope with one set of circumstances, only
to be challenged as those circumstances change. The same is true
at Cumberland, yet growth produces and requires change.
One big change at Cumberland for the 2000/2001
term will be the transfer of two of our principals. Mrs. Edith
Holt of the High School campus will be moving to the Hurt Road
campus, and Mrs. Brenda Henderson will be leaving the Hurt Road
campus to serve at the High School. As word of this pending move
has been shared, some have already reacted with concern. How
can this be?
The schools's administrative team has been praying
about this change for several months. Both Mrs. Holt and Mrs.
Henderson have had the deciding votes. Both have endorsed the
plan as being of God. Our mutual goal has been to strengthen
our school and to qualify us for accreditation. No one is being
demoted, relieved of duty, or disciplined. Rather, all of us
are seeking God's blessings and leadership.
In truth our changes will alter the climate of
our school. Mrs. Holt and Mrs. Henderson bring different gifts
and perspectives to their scenes. Even so, God works in our midst
to raise us to a higher level of service on all fronts. Mrs.
Holt's gifts will bless the elementary children and Mrs. Henderson's
gifts will enrich the high school students. We have a win-win
proposition here.
These moves will likely be the first of many adjustments
we will be making in order to achieve accreditation. By God's
grace we will take them in stride. God is shaping us for greater
service.
Keep the faith! Rejoice always! We win!
