Rejoicing in the Past
and Looking to the Future

When I consider that two years ago Cumberland had not yet occupied the Westside facility or even seriously considered our current middle school facility, I'm amazed. God has truly opened doors for us and blessed us during these years. He has blessed our comings and our goings and we continue to grow. Year by year our roots grow deeper and stronger. Our Lord surely shows His love to us.

Then I contemplate the fact that our facility needs are being filled by godly and enthusiastic teachers who increase in number and commitment, again I rejoice. As our fund-raising efforts find good support and positive response, once more I acknoweledge our good fortune. We have much for which to be exceedingly grateful.

In response to these obvious answers to prayer I am compelled to pray again and to ask our Lord what to do next. I'm also asking our administrative team and school board to pray and share with me. As God makes our vision clear we can proceed to even greated heights.

In my awareness that many of our families live west of us, I've asked our board to pray about opening a West Cobb campus. In regard to the appeals of our principals, Mr. Wages and I are talking with them about how to enrich, improve, and better operate our existing schools. Now I'm asking you as parents, supporters, and students to join us in praying about how God would have us proceed in the immediate future. Listed below are valid proposals already offered for consideration but shared in no particular order:

I. Regarding further expansion:
A. Build a second elementary facility at Westside Baptist or in West Cobb.
  B. Build a second middle school in West Cobb.
  C. Expand our current middle school.

II. Regarding improvements to present schools:
  A. Provide better furnishings and more teaching aids.
  B. Provide foreign language lessons school-wide.
  C. Improve playgrounds and libraries.
  D. Raise teachers' saleries.

These considerations and others have crossed our minds. Currently we rejoice in our progress and by faith look to future opportunities. You are encouraged to do the same and to pray as we stay "in the boat" together.
