Christian Use of the Internet

The Purposes of this Web Site

The Internet is merely a communications tool and like any other tool, it can be used for good or for evil. We believe that it is the duty of Christians to be "salt and light" to the world. In doing that we must venture into the world to share the Christian message with others. In doing this we must present and promote the unique Christian World View among Christians and Non-Christians. This is the first purpose of this Web site.

The scond purpose of this Web site is to do all that we can to help other Christians in their growth in the Christian Life. We will accomplish this in part through articles that will appear from time to time in these pages. Our primary means of accomplishing this, however, will be through providing links to the vast Christian resources that are available on the Internet. Our page of links includes a nunber of programs that Christian parents can use to protect their children from the harmful content of the Internet. Please visit this page.

The third purpose of this Web site relates to one of the primary purposes of our school...Education. The potential of the Internet as an educational tool is staggering. The secular educational institiutions have already recognized this potential and are dedicating vast amounts of resources to the development of educational sites on the Internet and to providing Internet access to the children and young people in the public schools and universities. We hope to tap into these resources as well since they are public resources. We will attempt to distinguish between Christian and Non-Christian educational sites, but the Christian parent should be warned that, just as is the case in the secular schools and universities, many of the educational sites on the Internet are eiher subtly or openly hostile to the Christian World View.

We will, of course, provide you with information about CCA on this Web site. This is our fourth purpose. God is at work in CCA and we hope to be able to reveal the ways that God is working through CCA. Our hope is that others in other communities will be encouraged to seek God's Will in the matter of starting or supporting a Christian school in their community. God works in many ways and by showing you how God has worked in CCA, we hope to serve as a conduit for God to speak to you and your community through Christian Education.

Harmful Content on the Internet

Many Christian parents have read of the harmful information and degrading sites that are available through the Internet. Discussions have gone back and forth between Christians about whether or not such sites should be censored by either the government or by some other oversight agency. The difficulty of this question for Christians is over whose standards would end up being applied. It isn't difficult to imagine that if certain groups were to gain control of such an oversight agency, Christian sites such as this one could be declared harmful and subsequently banned. History (ancient and modern) shows us that such things have not only occurred in the past, they continue today. Whenever forces are in power that are openly hostile to Christianity, they will have a tendency to want to suppress Christian thought. We believe that it is the right and the duty of Christian parents to direct their children's growth and education. This includes protecting them from harmful material. Our page of Christian links includes links to a number of programs that parents can use to protect their children from harmful Internet sites. Please make use of these links.

We could imagine an Internet that contained only sites that reflected only a wholesome Christian world view, that supported Biblical family values, that did not contain harmful pornographic sites or other sites that are degrading and that damage our relationship with God. The Internet is an open communications medium, and as such it is simply an impassive mirror of humanity and the myriad of beliefs, values and world views that exist. The Internet represents a vast opportunity for Christians to promote the Christian, Biblical World View and to persuade the citizens of the Internet to become citizens of the Kingdom of God. To the extent that the Internet does not reflect a Chrisian World View, it represents a vast mission field! Christians must harness the power of the Internet as a communications tool to win others over to a Christian World View. The Internet used as a mirror merely reflects an image of humanity. We can only change the reflection by changing the object being reflected. This is the challenge and the hope of the Internet for Christians.
